About Sebring
There is an old adage ‘we travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us’. When you visit Sebring, you can have it both way: a relaxing vacation, develop a business career or be an entrepreneur.
The city encircles Lake Jackson and is situated about 70 miles (110 km) southeast of Tampa. Founded and laid out on a circular plan in 1911 by George E. Sebring, an Ohio ceramics manufacturer, who supposedly took City’s layout from that of Heliopolis in Egypt.
The city is now the processing and shipping center for nearby citrus groves and cattle ranches. Manufacturing, including fertilizer and plastics, is also important. Sebring Regional Airport, Sebring International Raceway, and an industrial park have been developed on the site of Hendricks Field, formerly a U.S. Army air base.
Easily found in the center of peninsula Florida, the city of Sebring serves as the home of the Sebring International Raceway and as host of the 12 Hours of Sebring. But it offers more. Dubbed “The City on the Circle,” a reference to the design of the downtown historic district, Sebring offers a wide range of boutique and gallery shopping opportunities, fine and casual dining, and a host of parks and lakes that satisfy all recreational interests.
Sebring offers a great escape back to nature where you can nurture the soul with long walks in its parks, soak in its breathtaking sightseeing, explore shops and restaurants. In this vein, Sebring can be access by car (highway 27, 98 and 17) and by train (Amtrak – SBG, located at 601 E Center Ave, Sebring, FL 33870, USA). We are just 5 minutes away from downtown and Amtrak station.
